Your privacy is of paramount importance to Greater New York Mutual Insurance Company and its subsidiaries, the Insurance Company of Greater New York, Strathmore Insurance Company, GNY Custom Insurance Company, the Brite Insurance Agency, and Brite Umbrella Group (referred to collectively, for purposes of this website only, as "GNY"). To that end, GNY maintains the following privacy policy to protect your personal information.

USE OF THIS WEBSITE

This website is maintained by GNY, 200 Madison Avenue, New York, New York 10016, (212) 683-9700. Any comments regarding the use of this site should be directed to privacy@gny.com.

This website is intended for those individuals and entities located in the United States. No person or entity is authorized to access or use this website in any jurisdiction where the publication or use of the website and its content, including its products and services, are contrary to laws or regulations. GNY does not warrant or represent that the information, opinions, advice, or other content on the website is appropriate for your use or for any particular use. The products and services provided by the website are not available outside of the United States or in certain states within the United States. In addition, you may not be eligible for any or all of the insurance products and services described in this website even if the latter are available in a state.

Access to, and retrieval of, any content from this website is strictly voluntary. This is a passive website, which means that GNY is not soliciting any individual, group, entity, or market in any jurisdiction, or doing or transacting business in, or subjecting itself to the jurisdiction of, any country, state, or locality in which the user of this or any linked site, server, vendor, or internet provider is resident, domiciled, or located. Neither you nor your GNY-affiliated broker can purchase an insurance policy from us simply by submitting information to us through this website. GNY in its sole discretion shall determine all eligibility for our products and services.

The website may provide a general description of certain types of insurance products, coverages, and services available through GNY. These descriptions are not a part of any insurance contract or policy, and do not amend, revise, or alter the terms of any contract or policy that GNY may choose to issue.

All who use this website agree not to submit or transmit any e-mails or materials that (i) are defamatory, threatening, obscene, or harassing; (ii) contain a virus, worm, Trojan horse, or any other harmful component; (iii) incorporate copyrighted or other proprietary material of any third party without that party’s permission; or (iv) violate any laws. GNY shall not be subject to any obligations of confidentiality regarding information or materials that you submit online.

We invite job seekers, members of the press, and others with general inquiries to contact GNY by electronic mail with links through the website at information@gny.com.

PRODUCER PORTAL

GNY believes that its insureds and prospective insureds are best served by working with independent, GNY-affiliated brokers to procure insurance policies from us. For that reason, except in those states that require the use of agents, such as Connecticut, GNY will only consider submissions made through this website by GNY-affiliated brokers. Independent brokers are not agents of GNY. They do not represent GNY and have no power to bind our Company to, among other things, any policy or any coverage. Your GNY-affiliated broker has access to GNY’s producer portal on the GNY’s website, through which he, she, or it may (1) forward an electronic mail to GNY and (2) view reports, including your Billing Statements, Loss Runs, and Production Reports. You should discuss with your GNY-affiliated broker what information you will and will not submit to GNY by this website. Your GNY-affiliated broker may also use the information you provide him, her, to help with your insurance program or to market additional products and services to you. We may also use your information to offer you other products or services that we provide.

WHY WE COLLECT AND USE INFORMATION

We collect and use information you or your GNY-affiliated broker provides to evaluate your request for insurance, and, assuming a policy is issued to you, to evaluate your insurance claims, to administer, maintain, or review insurance policies you may already have with us, to process your insurance transactions, and to acquire information from you that may be required or permitted by law.

NOTICE TO CONNECTICUT CLAIMANTS CONCERNING THE COLLECTION OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS (A and B below):

A.      We comply with Connecticut's General Statutes, Title 42, § 42-470 and § 42-471, and therefore do not undertake any of the following, which are prohibited or restricted by § 42-470 in Connecticut:

  • Publicly post or display in any manner an individual's Social Security number;
  • Print an individual's Social Security number on any card required for the individual to access products or services provided for that person;
  • Require any person to transmit his or her Social Security number over the Internet, even though Connecticut law permits us to gather that information on a secure connection or when the Social Security number is encrypted; and
  • Require an individual to use his or her Social Security number to access an Internet website, even though Connecticut law permits us to establish a password or a unique personal identification number, or other authentication device, to access the Internet website.

 B.       We only release Social Security numbers when required by state or Federal law, and when required for internal verification, investigation, and administrative purposes. We refer you to § 42-470 (d), which provides: "This section does not prevent the collection, use or release of a Social Security number as required by state or federal law or the use of a Social Security number for internal verification or administrative purposes."

In all states in which we have issued insurance policies, we collect Social Security numbers from all persons making claims with our companies for bodily injury or for medical expenses. This information is not only necessary for us to uniquely identify each claimant, but we are legally required to use social security numbers when providing information to the United States government, including Medicare.

HOW THE DATA GNY COLLECTS IS STORED AND PROTECTED

GNY is committed to the safety and security of your personal information. E-mail submissions over the Internet may not be secure and are subject to interception by third parties. Please consider this fact before e-mailing any information. Though we cannot guaranty the security of your information, and we undertake no independent obligation of confidentiality, we have taken extraordinary steps to protect your information. GNY contracts with DataMotion, Inc. to allow certain of its key departments to send encrypted e-mails when appropriate. Further, GNY collects data by way of the producer portal on its webpage, which requires the GNY-affiliated broker to log in by a specific identification name and password. This information is stored in a MYSQL database and is used to authenticate the users when they log in and to return their access to permissible areas of the portal. This information is protected by placement on a separate, non-public-facing server that is behind a firewall, which can only be accessed by those with pre-approved security rights.

Only GNY, your GNY-affiliated broker, and our administrative vendor, SingleHop, have access to your information. GNY does not sell or lend your information to anyone, or, except as stated above, otherwise disclose your confidential information to anyone.

GNY MAY DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ASSIST IT IN THE BUSINESS OF INSURANCE

In order to provide the best service to you after a policy has been issued to you, GNY may in its discretion share your personal information with professionals whom it employs or retains, including investigators, outside adjusters, or experts. GNY may also disclose your personal information without your permission or knowledge if required by law, in cases involving criminal activity or fraud, or if directed by a State’s insurance department or by court order.

YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION MAINTAINED BY GNY

Please write or email GNY at privacy@gny.com to request a copy of the personal information that your GNY-affiliated broker has provided to us. When you write to us, please indicate your name, address, policy number, claim number (if applicable), and a phone number where you can be reached.
