Community Involvement

For the past decade, GNY has had tremendous success sponsoring fundraising events for various employee voted charities. Over the years, we have raised money for The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (2013), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (2014), The Wounded Warrior Project (2015), Alzheimer’s Association (2016), Make A Wish Foundation (2017), Shriners Hospitals for Children (2018), American Cancer Society (2019), Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Foundation (2020), National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) (2021) and Doctors Without Borders (2022). GNY also provides an ongoing employer matching contribution for employee donations made to the Red Cross. The feedback we have received from employees who dedicated their time & resources to the various campaigns has continued to be overwhelmingly positive and we have all enjoyed the opportunity to partner with our co-workers and business partners for such good causes throughout the years.

GNY employees vote annually to select a charity to support by means of in-house fundraisers such as raffles, trivia contests, snack tables and a paid half day to volunteer in person. In 2023, GNY employees nominated and voted to sponsor Feeding America. Feeding America is a United States–based nonprofit organization that is made up of a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies. Feeding America works with manufacturers and retailers to donate food that would otherwise go to waste. Feeding America partners with organizations that donate truckloads of food they are unable to sell. That rescued food then travels to food banks throughout the country. Every $1 donated provides at least 10 meals to families in need through the Feeding America network.
