NEW YORK, NY – October 17, 2018 – GNY's Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Thomas D. Hughes was an Honoree of the Israel Bonds Insurance Division. The event, held at the St. Regis Hotel, had almost 300 insurance professionals in attendance.
Israel Bonds underwrites securities issued by the State of Israel and invests in every sector of Israel's economy. It annually honors individuals for commitment and leadership in the insurance industry. GNY and Israel Bonds have enjoyed a long relationship. Previous honorees have included GNY's President and Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Heck and Chairman of the Board, Warren Heck.
Tom gave a passionate speech detailing the success of the Israel Bonds Insurance Division and how investments in the State of Israel support the vital role that it plays in the world and its support of the United States. Israel Bonds also welcomed Asaf Shariv, senior Israeli diplomat and political advisor, as its guest speaker. Tom's wife, two daughters and his son-in-law were present to support him, along with many GNY colleagues, business partners and friends. Following the awards, Mr. Shariv thanked Tom for his support and praised his speech.
In addition to Tom's award, Keith Wolfe, President of Swiss Re America was honored. Swiss Re is an important business partner to GNY. Elizabeth Heck presented Keith with his award. The event raised almost $10 million in bond pledges. Congratulations to Tom and Keith for this prestigious honor!
