Reporting a claim with GNY.

At GNY, we are committed to addressing our clients' claims quickly and fairly. Here are a few things you can do to facilitate this process.

Click on any tab for important guidelines for reporting claims:

  • Property Claims
  • Liability Claims
  • Workers' Comp Claims
  • After-Hours Emergency Claims

Contact your broker's office to report your claim. He or she will gather the necessary information and then contact the GNY Home Office Property Department on your behalf.

Report claims as soon as the loss occurs. This allows GNY claims adjusters to conduct an inspection/investigation as promptly as possible. In our experience, we have found that early reporting can dramatically limit your losses.

Be prepared to give your broker as much information as possible, including:
1) The name of the insured on your policy
2) The business' address, phone number and contact person
3) When and where the property damages occurred
4) The policy number, effective dates and policy limits
5) The cause of the damages (for example: fire, flood, etc.)
6) Information on which authorities you've notified, such as the police and fire department

Be sure to safeguard any physical evidence, such as photographs, video camera surveillance, etc. GNY will need copies of any such documents.

Your GNY broker will work closely with our claims professionals to expedite your claim processing.

Just keep in mind that these are only guidelines and should not be construed in any way as modifying the terms and conditions of coverage under your GNY policy.

Contact your broker's office to report any traumatic or occupational workers' compensation loss. Your broker will gather the necessary information and then contact GNY on your behalf. Or if necessary, you may contact the GNY office yourself.

Report claims as soon as the loss occurs. This allows GNY claims adjusters to investigate and handle your workers' compensation claims as efficiently as possible—and as quickly as practical. In our experience, we have found that early reporting can dramatically limit your losses.

Be prepared to provide as much information as possible, including:
1) The date and time of the accident
2) Any known injuries occurring from the accident
3) Details as to how the injury happened
4) Contact information for the employer, injured worker and any witnesses
5) Information on any medical providers that the injured worker has seen for the accident. All relevant facts and details about the accident should be noted at this time, as well as if there are any questions about the loss.

Ensure new claims are called in to the proper contact for your State. While we'll accept notice of a Workers' Compensation loss in any form, the appropriate State intake vendor is most knowledgeable about your state's specific reporting requirements. They will make sure the correct Employer's First Report of Injury form is completed and sent to GNY, which is the essential first step in processing your claim.
